Production gates

Production gates are physical hardware from a vendor. How the hardware reads a QR code, and what runs inside it, is the vendor’s choice. What matters is that it meets the check-in contract and the API.

What a production gate needs

Topic	Expectation
QR reading	Reads QR codes and passes the text to core unchanged
Credentials	A credential per device that FINNS can revoke on its own
Gate identity	A gateId agreed with FINNS for every device
Access rules	Core can apply rules per gate or zone (areas, VIP, opening hours)
Connectivity	Online verification; when core can’t be reached the gate stays closed. Offline verification of a signed FINNS2: pass, with later upload, is reserved for the future
Door control	Drives the turnstile or door relay; NFC readers for wristbands are a possible later addition
